Batam, June 12th 2024 – In a significant move to explore investment opportunities, 39 delegates from various Chinese venture capital firms visited Batam on Wednesday, June 12th 2024. The visit, part of the Southeast Asia Module of the CEIBS Venture Capitalist Camp 2024 in collaboration with SMU Singapore, featured a business discussion session with BP Batam and Tunas Industrial Estate held at Turi Hotel Batam.

The event aimed to introduce Batam as one of Southeast Asia's most attractive and potential destinations for business and manufacturing investments from China. Head of Public Relations of BP Batam presented some important information regarding foreign investment developments in Batam, providing the delegates with insights into the city's promising business landscape.

BP Batam warmly welcomed the investment plans, recognizing the long standing reputation of Batam as an export-oriented industrial hub with significant economic value. Chinese investments have notably contributed to this growth, ranking as the second-largest foreign investment source after Singapore, with investments reaching USD 46.42 million across 137 projects in 2023.

The city's investment realization also saw substantial growth in Q1 2024, with the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reporting a total investment value of IDR 7.45 trillion. This includes IDR 5.73 trillion in foreign direct investment (FDI) and IDR 1.71 trillion in domestic investment (DNI), marking an 85% increase from the same period last year. Batam remains committed to providing streamlined licensing processes and excellent services to investors.

Tunas Industrial Estate, a leading industrial zone in Batam, showcased its diverse industrial park projects, including Tunas Batam Center Industrial Estate (64 Ha), Tunas Kabil Industrial Estate (30 Ha), and the newly certified Green Mark Tunas Prima Industrial Estate (100 Ha). Tunas Industrial Estate aims to be a trusted partner for future foreign investors.

This visit underscores Batam's potential as a premier investment destination, reinforcing its role as a key player in the Southeast Asian industrial and manufacturing sectors.
